“Amen, amen I tell you till heaven and earth disappear not one dot, not one little stroke is to disappear from the Law until all its purpose is achieved.”
In Jesus we have the fullness of the Revelation. He is the Word, the Word come in flesh from God, living flesh, who wants us to have us know who God is and just how much He loves us.
Jesus has us enter into divine Revelation through the divine Word of the first Covenant.
We need to remain in the mystery of the ’creation’ in an attitude of adoration. May we be able to encounter the Creator, God,and place ourselves wholly into his hands.
God has revealed himself to humanity through the prophets. He expects a response of love form us.
It is the fidelity to Jesus’ teaching :
’If you love me you will remain faithful to my commandments.’
Jesus’ teaching reveals to us what ahs always been taught. This mystery is accomplished through Jesus’ incarnation. Everything which has always been said in the first Testament us taken up again by Jesus, as in an ’assumption of humanity’.
At the same time the past is respected, God’s Infinite Love is revealed int he mystery of the Blessed Trinity, taking us even more further.
God acts in the world and it is through faith that we recognise Him. He helps us in our combats and in our struggles in hope.
’God with us’ is an love that is more infinitely greater than we could ever imagine!
“Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them.”
When we keep God’s commandements, it is proof that we love him, as we do works in Truth.
St John tell us : ’For God’s Love is that : keeping his commandments. His commandments are not a heavy load to bear’.
Love is not just a feeling; it also requires works, works of love. It requires us living the double precept of charity towards God and towards our neighbour , it is the security of a living faith.
But as in the past we leave the Living God for idols. Already in the first Testament Elijah the prohet, faithful tot he God of the Cobvenant, helps us to enter to his perspective of fidelity. The people had got perverted, all that was left was the only prophet of the Living God : ’How much longer will you bend your kness on both sides?’ he said. People always create idols for themselves, and walks, up and down, with these idols as if the gods were the True God. Elijah was faced with four hundred and fifty propheof Ball. He shows then that ’the only God’ is rooted in creation, that he walks with his people in the night of faith.
“Therefore, anyone who infringes even one of the least of these commandmnts and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom of Heaven; but the person who keeps them will be considered great in the kingdom of Heaven.”
"The truth of our life shows the fidelity of the Holy Sprit in our hearts. Whover says ’I know Him’ and hwo doesn’t keep his commandments is a liar : the truth isn’t in him’ says St John.
In this way Jesus teaches us the subtlety of malice that makes its way into us at the sam time it teaches us of the impôrtance of giving a good example.
Jesus takes on himself the whole revelation of God, in a simplification that becomes greater and greater,a nd he tells us : ’My only commandment is that you love one another.’
All of our existence is built on the Love of God which is translated into the love o f our sisters and our brothers. We always need to place ourselves in afundamental way in the hands of the Living God. It is in this attitude of adoration that we can truely surrender ourselves up to God. He sustains our human natur in its fragility, accompanying the poor little ones we are. The
Living God makes us draw close to one another, in the offering up of oneself to Jesus, taking everything in Him. Let us enter into deep adoration in the sacrifice of thanksgiving, where the Living God is recognised as the God of Love.
