“Jesus said”What shall I compare the Kingdom of God with?“The Kingdom of God always passes through another person, through what doesn’t come from me- in this sense, the Kingdom of God is really about giving and receiving. Something is given to me, someone sows something in me. It is compared by Jesus to events that are capable of transformation. It is something that is dynamic, a process of creation, of transformation, a movement that is in the process of becoming. To live in function of this kingdom is to live in a dynamic of transformation, of renewal, to be of something that acts in us, to make us grow and rise up, to lead us to the fulness of life. It is the Word of God that sounds forth to the ends of the world, that fortifies our hope. Jesus announces the Glory of God, which is the Love that is communicated to us and that is revealed. The Glory of God is this blossoming of his Love in us as soon as our earth is cleared, a dteat there is friendship between us, the Lord Jesus establishes within us our dwelling place and life triumphs over death. The smallest of the children of mankind will be ’thrown onto the ground’ in the Garden of Gethsemane. Out of his death and Ressurection the mystery of the Church will spread forth to the four corners of the world,announcing a new humanity. At the beginning, there is nothing apparent, apart from the rejection by humanity of this mystery of the littleness and the poverty of Jesus. : ’He had no human appearence,’ Isaiah had already announced!”The Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed which a man took and threw into his garden ; it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air sheltered in its branches."
A man who had taken a mustard seed and who had thrown it into the garden awakens us to ’the smallest’ of all seeds : the Word of God, who took flesh of the Virgin Mary! The Holy Spirit transforms our humanity thus it is blesssed and regenerated. The first gesture to accomplish in order to enter into God’s Kingdom is to accept and to receieve the Gift of God. It is not very obvious to accept and to receive from another, for it is much more satisfying for us to give, but the reality is I don’t have everything I need, and deep down I am
incomplete. When we leave a place for us in what I am lacking in myself, I leave place for the other in their alterity and I make it possible that what I need to live in fullness may be given to me. The mystery of the Annunciation enlightens us, so that we come to the understanding that the kingdom of God comes as far as us. In fact the Holy Spirit joins our spirit to enlighten it, so that our humanity can be transformed. Already in the mystery of Mary, the whole of humanity is blessed and renewed. The day we felt just how much God loved us was the day the Kingdom of God came to our encounter and we set off on a way of joy and happiness. Grace completely transformed our nature.
“Jesus said again, ’What shall I compare the Kingdom of God with? It is like the yeast a woman took and mixed it with three measures of flour till it was leavened all through.”
Here again, without something outside of us to support us, without a gesture accomplished by another, nothing would grow nor would rise! Delivered to itself, turning in suffocating soil, our life could become a garden of thorns! An underground work is done, thanks to the yeast buried in the flour so that God’s work be done in us. ’ Creation aspires with all its strength to see the revelation of the children of God. It cries out its suffering, passing through child birth pangs that are still going on. It is not alone, we too cry in ourselves our suffering ; we began by receiving the Holy Spirit but we are waiting for our adoption and to be delivered from our body.’ This is how Saint Paul expresses himself as he describes the work of God in each of our lives. If we hand over the garden of our life to God, it will be well cultivated ; flowers and all the birds of Heaven will come to build their nest there and will give glory to God. Fulness of life is not for straight away, it takes time, it is not ’everything straight away’, but it is called to grow, mature, grow in giving thanks for everything that is given to us. To enter into the dynamic of the Kingdom of God is to enter into something that goes on, it is history,a temporality.
