The Queenship of Mary 22nd August - Feasts of Our Blessed Lady
“In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man called Joseph, of the House of David: and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ’Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour!’’”
How beautiful it is, this encounter between the Virgin Mary who is Queen of the universe with such a majestic Angel! It is a royal beauty, completely come from God, King of the universe. As well as, this beauty is received in a human heart that thirsts so much for a Love that is true. And so we celebrate the victory of God’s Love for our Humanity. As it is for Eve in Genesis when we read about the original combat, so it is with each one of our lives. This ’agony’ still goes on, man hungers for God and God hungers for mankind whom He created so as to have a reciprocal communion. Mary, Queen of Heaven and of earth, comes to our aid, for she fully brings about this beautiful plan of love! The angel said to Mary: ’Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you." Mary is the first one who was saved and she opens up for us a royal Way, a way that leads us to the door of the Kingdom.
«So from now on, no more obstacle, no more barrier, no more screen! Everywhere, in all places, at each single instant, each and every day, all of us, believing with a true and humble faith, let us all keep the Most Sovereign and Eternal Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in our heart, knowing how to love, honour, serve, adore, praise and bless, glorify and celebrate, magnify and be thankful.“This is what St. Francis of Assisi will tell us.”She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what the greeting could mean. But the angel said to her, ’Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most
High. The Lord god will give him the throne of his ancestor David.; He will rule over the House of Jacob forever and his reign will have no end.“This Grace from God that Mary received will be received in advance by Jesus her Son, who will be crucified and glorified. Jesus Our Saviour is at work in our lives: ’The mother’s treasure belongs to the child’ sings Saint Teresa of Lisieux. We are baptised in Christ, and yet, the hardships in our life haven’t faded away. The ’old man’ is there, the one who prevents us from doing what we want to do, but Mary’s Royalty is ever at work! In Jesus Christ, God acts so that in love we may be”holy and spotless under his gaze.“Saint Francis tells us again :”So let us have no other desire nor any other will or pleasure or joy than our Creator, Redeemer and Saviour, the One True God, who is the full, whole, total, true and sovereign God; He alone is good, merciful and loveable, indulgent and gentle; He alone is Holy, just and true and straight; He alone is benevolent, innocent and pure ; from Him, through Him and in Him comes all forgiveness, all graces and all glory for all penitents and the just on earth and for all the blessed rejoicing with Him in Heaven.“”Mary said to the angel, ’but how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?’ The angel answered, ’The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the Power of the Most High will overshadow you. And so the child will be called Holy and will be called Son of God. And I tell you this, too: your cousin Elizabeth also, in her old age, has conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.“Mary is taken up to Heaven to Jesus, King of Love. She is the privileged child of the Father receiving in advance the grace of the Immaculate Conception. She has us benefit from her grace and we have an experience of the ’new world”, where Love is stronger than death.
“He has blessed us, he has choses us for us to be in Love. «For nothing is impossible for God. Now it is up to us to choose this divine Wisdom and to taste how God is good. St Francis tells us:”Let us all love the Lord with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, all our power and courage, all our intelligence, all our strength, all our efforts, all our affection, all our guts, all our desires, all our will. He has given to us and gives to us his Body, soul and Life; He created us and bought us back; His Mercy alone will save us; despite our weaknesses and misery, how vile we are and things we are ashamed of, in spite of our ingratitude and nastiness, Jesus made us and does nothing but good to us."
