Feast of the Blessed Trinity, year ’C’ 22nd May 2016

“When the Spirit of Truth comes he will lead you to the complete Truth, since he will not be speaking of his own accord, but will only say what he has been told; and he will reveal to you the things to come.”

Today we celebrate the feast of the Blessed Trinity, the mystery of God who is Love.

God is One, in an Infinite Love, and this is expressed in the unity of God, in the unique Love of the Three Divine Persons.

God alone can speak about God. He alone can print the seal of Love on human hearts, at the same time revealing Himself.

It is a question of the mystery of the Light of God, who has his reflection in God Himself, a mystery of Love who is a ’person’, as much as he is an Exchange, the mystery of the Blessed Trinity.

When we meditate upon the Sending of the Son and upon the Sending of the Holy Spirit, we grasp something which is true and definitive, it is the ’circuit of love’ leaving from the Father and coming back to the Father.

At each step we marvel. The Holy Sprit Himself has us say :’God is One. One before all time began, One for the Eternal Today.

The more we draw close to this secret of Love, the more we consider it with Mary, the Mother of Jesus who is in a state of marvel with these divine capacities of Love in the mystery of the Annunciation.

Jesus has spoken to his Father, He would shine with Love and Tenderness for this Father, who lit up his countenance from within.

“He will not be speaking of his own accord, but will say only what he has been told; and he will reveal to you the things to come.”

The best way of encountering God who is One is to meditate upon how each of the Divine Persons act. This is part of those things God has hidden from the wise and knowledgeable and that He has revealed to the little ones.

We are speechless before these divine marvels come from God, because of the weakness of our faith and the poverty of our hope.

Jesus, all given for his God of Love, gives us the Holy Spirit, Infinite Love. This Holy Spirit never leaves Jesus. Jesus gives us this Holy Spirit who henceforth no longer leaves us. He is more intimate to ourselves than we are to ourselves, He gives us back to ourselves, by turning us towards others, by welcoming others - we have experience of this.

This mystery of God Love, of the Blessed Trinity is an ’experience’ of Love.

First and foremost it is a Love to be received ,a Love that has a source in the Father from whom all things come. A Love that is received, the Son who receives all things and who gives back all things. And of a Love that is given to us, the Holy Spirit.

“He will glorify me since all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine. Everything that Father has is mine; that is why I said : all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine.”

We are unable to grab hold of the mystery of God’s unity, as soon as we accept to live as children of God, this servitude disappears :

’The Holy Spirit Himself joins our spirit to confirm we are children of God.’

It is in this filial experience that we wish to be established. It is the Holy Spirit who will gradually introduce us into the whole Truth. It is He who will have us grasp just how much the Father loves the Son, and to the extent the Son is the Glory of the Father.

Our desire is to live with Jesus, in our daily life and to keep our heart open to God’s Mystery which is greater than all things.

It is the Mystery of a Personal God, a dialogue inside God that is spread out and is plunged in his creature.

This Love is going beyond oneself, a marvellous unity of Love.

What is within the Mystery of God is something that is within our own life.

We ask for the grace to become Love, just as our God is love.
