Christ the King Year ’C’ “The people stayed there, watching Him. As for the leaders, thy jeered at him with these words, ’He saved others, let Him save himself if He is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.”

The soldiers and people in charge make fun of Jesus. In faith we welcome the Crucified Lord. He is our Wisdom. With a benevolent gaze we look at Jesus who saves us on the Cross. He is the One who has us enter into this benevolence, even though our life is hard, undergoing ordeals, and dereliction : He is nevertheless our Light.

We can hope In life that keeps on rising in us, we can hear Jesus’ promise and welcome it. It is given to us to address ourselves to Him, to speak to Him, to implore Him, in this way to enter into relationship with Him. He gives us his Way, his Truth and his Life.

Jesus saves us by this gentleness and humility. He is the King of Love, a King who is Gentle and Humble of Heart.

Following Jesus, we seek to show Jesus’ true face to humanity. On the face of those who look at the pans in the universe there is worry reflected there. We announce Jesus, the Crucified Messiah , who establishes all things in Peace and Love.

" Above him there was an inscription ’This is the King of the Jews.’ One of the criminals hanging there abused him : ’Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us as well.’

But the other spoke up and rebuked him. ’Have you no fear of God at all?’ he said. You got the same sentence as he did, but in our case we deserved it ; we are paying for what we did. But this man has done nothing wrong."

Jesus’ Crucifixion allows us to measure the strength and hope that He the Saviour lived. We are always before those who turn Jesus into a god. We are still in this mixed up world, that no longer knows where the Truth is. Before the

Crucified Messiah we touch upon the crowd’s disarray! It is living Jesus’ life, in celebrating it that we announce it and that we receive it.

Jesus saves us by His Cross, by the Love He gives to the Father on the Cross.

Christ’s Bride, the women and men who take the Gospel seriously, are led to be instructed by God, they follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

Jesus orientates us towards what is essential, we who still are going through his sufferings and death. Jesus offers us to make of all that is suffering, a cross in our daily existence to turn it into a proof of Love. Love is the strength of Salvation, a light lighting up our own path. It is a light enlightening the apth of all those whom we love. What we have to carry so as to remain faithful to Jesus serves as salvation for our brothers.

“Then he said ’Jesus, remember me when I come into your kingdom.’ He answered him ’In truth I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

This is how our life can be given up to Christ, the King of the universe. Our life belongs no longer to ourselves, but to the One who has died and is Risen for us, the First Born amongst all the dead. It is lived with Jesus, the One Sent from God. It is in our daily life that we welcome the Father’s will and that we encounter the Cross of Jesus. It is our daily life that e tell God thatw e love Him. Our paschal destiny is inscribed in our Baptism. It really is about Joy and Love.

In our daily life, Christ the Messiah wants to be king. He is the King of fre hearts. His Royalty is not of this world. It is given in an act of unique Love for each one of us. The Royalty of Jesus is the shining splendour of his word. It is the illumination of every believer’s heart. It is the burning charity untilt he ends of the earth, beginning with the blaze in our hearts, where everything has to take fire, ’for the Glory of God and the Salvation of the world.’

This King of Love who appears as crucified Messiah to us in the Gospel, si the Saviour of the world. He is the One who saves us from death in a surprising manner by taking all our sins upon Himself : ’He has snatched us from the powers of darkness.’ We contemplate Jesus on the Cross, we look to Mary his Mother, the woman of Compassion.
